An equipped piece of Armor or a shield gives you an additional consequence slot, that can be used to reduce stress once. When you take the consequence, the piece of armor is broken and has to be repaired by a specialist.

You cannot invoke a shield on a Defend action, instead it has a stunt that grants your a bonus on your defend rolls against melee or ranged attacks. To get this bonus you have to pay 1 Fate Point to your attacker.

You cannot use a Fate Point just given to you by the character attacking you!

Shield:2 Get a +2 bonus when defending in a physical conflict using a shield. 1FP
2☐ Broken Shield You can absorb 2 points of damage but break your shield.
